July 10, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public -Safety was held on Monday, July 10, <br />1061 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approvedand ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT (RETIREMENT ) TREVEY <br />James K. Trevey, Inspector of Detectives requested to be relieved of active duty <br />with the South Bend Police Department and placed on the pension rolls effective <br />July 16, 1961. Inspector Trevey also requested 15 days terminal leave from <br />July 1 to July 159 1961 inclusive before being placed on Pension rolls. <br />Permission granted as requested. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT (PROMOTIONS) <br />J. Charles JJutrieux, Chief of Police requested that Detective Sgt. Russell <br />Hunt be premoted to the rank of Inspector and assume command•of the Detective <br />Bureau effective July lb. r961. <br />The Police Chief also requested that Officer John Andert be promoted to the <br />rank of Sgt. effective July 16, 1961.. <br />Following the recommendation of the Police Chief, the Board approved the <br />promotions as requested. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT (FR,lrER NAL ORDER OF POLICE - RE: SICK LEAVE WAGES) <br />A letter from Dan Radman, Wage Committee Chairman of the Fraternal Order of <br />Police, St.. Joseph galley Lodge No. 36 requesting changes in alloted <br />sick:teare- was presented*to the Board. <br />The Board will examine said request and make its decision on.course of action <br />at a later date. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for the Police Department were examined, accepted <br />and ordered placed on file: Raymond W. Woodward, John R. Woods. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND <br />A Continuation Certificate for Robert Louis Kingsafer, Special Police Officer, <br />was approved and ordered placed on file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (REQUEST: FOUR WAY STOP SIGN)A letter from Mrs. Bernard Kielton <br />requesting a four way stop sign at the intersection of Liberty and Dunham <br />Streets was examined by the Board, referred to the Traffic Engineer for <br />further investigation and recommendation. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT (PETITIONS - STREET LIGHF:_INSi'ALLATION) <br />Petitions for Street Lights on E. Ohio Street, from Ridley Stout and others wa'4 <br />referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT (.STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION) <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department the <br />installation of a 49000 lumen street light at the intersection of Portage Avenue <br />and Kessler Place was approved. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES ANNUAL REPORTS MONTHLY REPORT. <br />A Monthly report for June, 1961 was submitted by the Department of Weights & <br />Measures and accepted by the Board. <br />The Annual Report of the Weights & Measures for the year beginning June 1,. <br />1960 to June 30, 1961 was submitted to the Board, examined and apdered placed <br />on file. <br />The Board commended Mr. Cichowicz, City Sealer, for the above reports and the <br />work done by his Department. <br />
