June 19, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safaty was held on Monday, June 19, <br />1961 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to <br />the various suppliers. <br />RE: FIRE STATION NO. 13 (BID TABULATION & ANALYSIS) <br />Comes now Callix Miller) Architect &,_Engineer with a letter to the Board <br />and tabulation and analysis of the proposed remodeling of Fire Station No. <br />13. <br />Said Tabulation and Analysis shows that the amount equired to award a <br />contract would be $54,538.32. Since the amount of present fund is $40,000.00 <br />an additional $12,553.28 would be required to complete the work as set forth <br />in present specifications. <br />Mr. Miller also referred to the Board a report containing possible reductions <br />in specifications. According to this report, it is impossible under the <br />terms of the specificatins and requirements to cut the costs to the prescribed <br />amount. This revised report shows a shortage of $5,510.96. <br />It was the decision of the Board that, since all bids were over the amount <br />budgeted for this remodelingy that no bids will be awarded. <br />The Architect may draw up new specifications, if he so desires, to meet the <br />present appropriation. <br />The Board further indttucted the architect to meet with the Fire Chief and <br />City Engineer in an effort to make sufficient changes in specifications to <br />allow such remodeling. <br />_CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE (MCGANN SECURITIES COMPANY, INC.) <br />In accordance with instructions of the Board, McGann Securities Company, Inc <br />submitted Certificate of Insurance for Injury and General Property Damage <br />indemnifying the City of South Bend, as prescribed by the Board in connection <br />with the remodeling of property located at 125 W. Colfax Venue. <br />The Certificate of Insurance was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (HOUSE MOVE) <br />Comes now Mr. Laven of Laven Insurance Company to explain delay in completing <br />requirements in house move from 110 E. Irvington to 2114 S. William Street. <br />Mr. Laven explained that he has just completed a new building and <br />movedlinto it recently. The same contractor that completed the new build- <br />ing will now complete the house move. <br />The Board instructed Mr. Laven that house will not be occupied until it has <br />been brought up to standard and continued the hearing for two months from <br />this date to allow ample time for completion. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( CONDEMNATION ORDER) <br />Comes now William H. Scott concerning a condemned house at 740 N. Francis <br />Street, and states that he is making arrangements to bring house up to <br />standard and requests additional time of 60 days in order to accomplish <br />this. <br />Permission granted by the Board. Case continued to August 28. If property <br />is not brought up to standard by this date, the City will proceed with <br />condemnation order. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (REQUEST TO TURN OVER PROPERTY TO FIRE DEPARTMENT) <br />Comes now John Grabarz, of Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department <br />and asks permission to turn over property at 1801 N. Fremont to the Fire <br />Department for a 'Training Ground. <br />
