May 1, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 1, <br />1961 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were ordered paid to the <br />various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (HEARINGS) <br />With reference to the property owned by Wallace Mitchell and others, locaated <br />at 2509 Longley, South Bend, a letter from Wallace Mitchell requested <br />that the hearing on this case be postponed for 45 days due to the fact. <br />that one of the owners was hospitalized and unable to appear.. <br />Request granted and case continued for two'weeks. <br />With reference to the Church at 1059 Burns Avenue, comes now Rev. Wilson <br />and his attorney, Chester Allen and requests an extension of 30 days in <br />which to complete this building. <br />Permission granted. <br />Comes now John Grabarz, of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building <br />Department and requests permission to advertise for bids for demolition <br />of property located at 835 S., Jackson St. This property is a P by A. <br />(Purchased by Auditor) property and the County has no funds for Sikh <br />demolition. <br />Permission granted. <br />A•hearing on property located at 324 W. Sample. Street which property is a <br />restaurant, was continued for one week or until May 8, 1961. <br />Demolition Orders have been sent <br />324 W. Garst Street. Permission <br />demolition for said structure. <br />to the owners of property located at <br />is hereby granted to advertise for <br />Mr. Grabarz informed the Board that property located at 513 and 515 E. <br />Pennsylvania is now vacant. the Owner has been requested to repair or <br />board up structures but has ignored requests and refuses to answer the <br />door. Owner is Pearl Irene Darr. <br />The Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department is hereby directed <br />by the Board to send registered letter to owfier with an order to appear <br />before the Board to show cause why previous orders have been ignored. <br />Mr. Grabarz requested permission to advertise for bids for demolition of <br />property located at 414 Melkus Court. Permission granted. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (TRAFFIC SIGNS) <br />The Board approved the installation of the following traffic signs: <br />Stop Sign installed on Center Street, northeast corner, at Mill <br />Street. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( CORRECTION OF MINUTES OF OCTOBER 1957) <br />At the request of the Traffic Engineering Department, the following <br />correction is hereby made to the Minutes of October 14, 1957, Page 666: <br />Stop Signs on Columbus Court at Michigan and at Mill Streets; <br />It should read: <br />Stop Sign on Center Street, northeast corner, at Michigan Street <br />Stop Sign on Center Street, southwest corner, at. -Mill Street. <br />1 <br />
