December 59 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />December 5, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the previous regular meeting and special met g.�were read and approved. <br />Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARD DIVI_SION_ <br />Comes now John Grabarz with reference to property owned by Mr. Thompson at <br />1205 King Street. Appearing before the Board were Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Victor <br />Bowering who is residing at the above address and is purchasing said <br />property by land contract. Mr. Thompson wa§ called to show cause why <br />property had not been brought up to standard as provided by the Sub - <br />Standard Division of the Building Department. He contended that it was <br />impossible to repair said property until it was vacated and Mrs. <br />Thompson advised the Board that she had been unable to find quarters <br />for herself and her eleven children. <br />After hearing the above interested parties, it was the decision of the Board <br />that the Building Department and the Health Department contact the <br />Department of Public Welfare and the Trustee and request that they find <br />quarters for Mrs. Thompson and her family. The case is continued until <br />January 9, 1961. If, by this date, the property has not been brought <br />up to standard to conform to the provisions of the Building and Health <br />Departments it shall be torn down. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT (BIDS) <br />Comes now John Grabarz and requests permission to award bid for demolition <br />of structure at 413 Arthur Street. The bid was awarded to Joseph Kriezopolski <br />who bid $350.00 without salvage and $800 with salvage. <br />AWARDING OF BID -EXECUTION OF ooNTRACT (FIRE STATION NO' 2 REMODELING) <br />Comes now Callix Miller and recommends that, after examination of bids, <br />the following bids for said remodeling of Fire Station No. 2 be awarded: <br />Harry H. Verkler <br />645 N. Wilber St. <br />South Bend, 28, Ind. <br />For remodeling Fire Station No. 2 in accordance with specifications: <br />(Adjusted proposal) 1 $24,682.00 <br />B_rehmer Electric Co. <br />502 E. LaSalle Ave. <br />South Bend, Inca. <br />For Electrical Wiring as per specifications: <br />(Adjusted proposal) 4 $1,642.00 <br />Edward J. White, Inc. <br />1011 S. Michigan St. <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />For plumbing and heating as per specifications. $1,215.00 <br />(Adjusted proposal) Add $63.70 $19278.70 <br />Following the recommendation of Callix Miller and after examination by <br />the Board, the contract for said remodeling is now awarded to the above <br />named contractors and the contracts signed. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />The monthly report for October, 1960 from the Police Department was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />Monthly report for November, 1960 for the Building Department was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />OUTAGE REPORT <br />Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />
