a <br />November 7, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November <br />7, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. <br />Ray S. A ngrysiak was excused from the meeting because of illness. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br />Comes now John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department <br />with a petition from Stanley J. Otalski and others, residents in the <br />neighborhood of properties located at 1618 and 1620 W. Dunham Street. <br />Said petitioners request that the Board of Public Works & Safety take some <br />definite action to relieve the situation that exists at the aforementioned <br />address. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that the owner of the properties in question had been <br />mrdered by the Building Department to bring properties up to standard and, <br />to date, this has not been done. <br />The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to instruct the owner of the properties to <br />appear before the Board on November 21, 1960 to show cause why the orders <br />of the Building Department had not been carried out. <br />Comes now Reverend Bowles with reference to property located at 125 N. <br />Illinois Street.to show cause why property had not been vacated and demolished. <br />Reverend Bowles informed the Board that the occupant of the property was <br />ill and not able to vacate or appear before the Board. <br />It was the decision of the Board that the case be continued for three <br />months. <br />With reference to the property owned and occupied by John Bonevac, Mr. <br />Grabarz advised that Mr. Bonevac had been ordered to vacate the garage <br />where he is living and also tear down several structures on property. To <br />date this order has not been 'followed. Mr. Joseph Nyikos, attorney, <br />advised Mr. Grabarz that he has made progress concerning compliance with <br />the above. It was the decision of the Board that this hearing be continued. <br />until Monday, November 14, 1960. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE STATION NO. TWO <br />The time now being 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the <br />remodeling of Fire Station No. 2, 817 S. Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, <br />Indiana were opened and read aloud.
