October 31, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October <br />31, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTIONS <br />Comes now Alex Andrzejewski, Fire Chief, and respectfully recommends the <br />Board's approval for the promotion of Captain Thomas Fitzgerald to the rank <br />of Battalion Chief, effective November 1, 1960. After due consideration, the <br />Board approved the recommendation as requested. <br />The Fire Chief also recommends the Board's approval of the promotion of <br />Battalion Chief Carl B. Lederetx to the rank of Assistant Chief, effective <br />November 1, 1060. -After consideration, the Board approves such promotion <br />as requested. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION <br />Applications for the Fire Department were accepted and ordered placed on file <br />for the following: William L. Horvath, Albert R. Strom. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION <br />Application for the Police Department for Goldus S. Butler, Jr. was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />The Monthly Report for September 1960 for the Police Department was accepted <br />and ordered placedc;on file. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />Nich6las Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Department was directed <br />to install the following street lights at the following locations: <br />1. A 4000 lumen light at Linden and Huey Streets <br />2. A 2500 lumen light at Rose and Cushing Streets. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />Mr. John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department came <br />before the Board with an Affidavit of August 8, 1960, signed by Mr. William <br />Odem, in which he states he will make required repairs to structure located <br />at 220 S. Cherry Street. If said repairs were not made building would be <br />demolished. <br />Mr. Grabarz informed the Board that no repairs had been made and requested <br />permission to proceed with demolition order. Permission granted. Mr. <br />Grabarz directed to notify Mr. Odem of this order. <br />ABOLISHMENT OF RAILROAD CROSSING WATCHMEN <br />The Traffic Engineer was directed to contact Mr. Ray Andrysiak and investigate <br />the proposed abolishment of Second Trick railroad watchmen on Eiling Avenue, <br />Calvert S�reet, Indiana Avenue and Sample Street, effective October 31, 1960. <br />Copy of a letter bringing this matter to the Board's attention was turned over <br />to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and report. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:45 A.M. <br />Chairman <br />Attest: Antony/J.
