October 24, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October <br />24, 1960 at 9:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />previous regular meeting were read and _approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />RE: COMPLAINT ( NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD) <br />With reference to the complaints concerning chunks of iron falling from the <br />New York Central right-of-way on South Michigan Street, a letter from Mr. Marvin <br />A Jersild, General Attorney of the New York Central Railroad was directed <br />to the Board. Mr. Jersild advised the Board that he was initiating an <br />investigation and will do everything possible to rectify the difficulties. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT DEMOTION <br />Police Chief J. Charles Dutrieux recommended that effective October 24, 1960 <br />that Sergeant Edward Dudzinski be reduced to the rank of Patrolman and <br />duties re -assigned. Following the recommendation of the Police Chief, the <br />demotion was approved. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BONDS <br />A letter from Drewrys Limited U.S.A. Inc. enclosing Special Police Bonds for <br />two Special Police officers was submitted to the Board. The following <br />Special Police bonds were approved and ordered placed on file: Robert S. Kizer <br />and Fred F. Miller <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and ordered <br />placed on file: Norbert J. Hechlinski, Richard R. Strozewski, Richard P. <br />Romanski, Hoan Williams, Anthony P. Perusich. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION <br />Application for the Fire Department for William Victor Cira was accepted and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHTS, <br />Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Department was directed <br />to:'install 4000 lumen street lights at the following locations: <br />426 West Navarre St. <br />711 South Arnold St. <br />733 South Arnold St. <br />1008 Evergreen Lane <br />3700 Brentwood Drive <br />1250 Kinyon Avenue <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />Comes now John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department <br />with the following business for the approval of the Board: <br />With reference to the property at 1001 S. Carroll Street, Mr. Grabarz requests <br />permission to advertise for bids to demolish structure. Permission granted. <br />Mr. Grabarz informed the Board that the owner of the property at 522 E. Keasey <br />Street had notified the Building Department that she has secured a bank loan <br />and building permit has been issued to repair the building at the above addrdss. <br />Mr. Grabarz informed the Board, with reference to the property at 3821 W. <br />Washington Avenue, owned by Mr. Dobbs, that the Building Department had <br />received a*fetter from the family of Mr. Dobbs, now deceased, with the <br />request that, inasmuch as Mr. Dobbs had recently passed away, more bime be <br />given before a hearing -'is set concerning the property. Board directed Mr. <br />GrabarzLto notify the family of Mr. Dobbs that the case will be continued <br />until January 9, 1961 at which date structure at the above address shall have <br />been repaired and brought up -.to standard. <br />
