October 17, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October <br />10, 1960 at 9:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />previous regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />POLICE OFFICER REPORT - ACCIDENT (DAMAGE TO VEHICLE) <br />A report of an accident on October 14, 1960 involving Police Car #5 and <br />a vehicle driven by Louis Kiriakeas, of Chicago, Illinois was referred to <br />the Board. The Clerk of the Board was directed to communicate with Mr. <br />Kiriakeas in an effort to collect damages. If unsuccessful, case will <br />be turned over to the City Attorney. . <br />PETITION FRCM ODUNCILMAN LEi N (RE: CAROLINE ST EE]C1 <br />AT the October 10th meeting of the Common Councibs Councilman Le an presented <br />a petition signed by 51 property owners to improve Caroline Street from <br />Lowman acid Donald to Fox Street by the erection of a Stop or Yield sign. <br />The petition was accepted by the Board, referred to Traffic Engineer for <br />investigation and report. <br />COMPLAINT: RE: NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD <br />Various complaints having been lodged with the City with reference to chunks <br />of iron on the New York Central Right-of-way at Michigan Street near Bronson <br />have been hurled to the ground during the passage of trains, the Board <br />directed a letter to Mr. Marvin A. Jersild, General Attorney of the New York <br />Central Railroad. Mr. Jersild was requested to take immediate action before <br />a serious injury resulted from the flying debris. Tt was also suggested that <br />he contact the Chief of Police in order to correct this hazardous condition. <br />Special Police Bond for Richard Warren Warner was approved and ordered placed <br />on file. <br />Application for the Police Department for Billy Lou Stephens was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />Application for the Fire Department from James Edward Hammer was examined <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - STREET LIGHTS <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, the installation of a 4000 lumen street light at <br />614 N. St. Peter Street was approved. <br />The following petitions requesting installation of street lights were examined <br />and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and redommendation: <br />1. Evergreen Lane from Sample to Meadow Street <br />2. 700 Block of Arnold from Ford Street to Dunham Street <br />3. Alley south side of West Navarre in 400 Block. <br />Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />There being no further business to come ':before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:30 A.M. <br />1 <br />Attest: Ant o J.
