The speed limit on the South Bend section of Douglas Road was previously set at 40 mph after the road was reconstructed, based on the design speed of 40 mph. In the past, Mishawaka requested that the speed limit on the South Bend section be lowered to match their 30 mph speed limit, providing a uniform speed limit from SR 23 to Fir Rd.
