Decontaminate personnel and <br />equipment with water wash -down after fire and smoke exposure. Structural firefighters' protective clothing <br />may only provide limited protection. Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). <br />Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. Use water spray to cool containers exposed to <br />fire. <br />Section 6 — Accidental Release Measures <br />Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures <br />Personal Precautions: <br />Wear appropriate protective equipment including respiratory protection as conditions warrant. Do not touch <br />or walk through spilled material. Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing <br />appr9priate;proteot ive clothing. <br />Emergency Procedures: <br />As an immediate precautionary measure, isolate spill or leak area. Keep out of low areas. Keep unauthorized <br />personnel away. Stay upwind. Ventilate closed spaces before entering. <br />Environmental Precautions: <br />Avoid run off to waterways and sewers. <br />Methods and material for containment and cleaning up <br />Small Spills: <br />Stop leak if you can do it without risk. Absorb or cover with dry earth, sand or other non-combustible <br />material and transfer to containers for later disposal. <br />Large Spills: <br />Dike far ahead of liquid spill and prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined spaces. <br />Neutralize with Sodium Sulfite (1 teaspoon in 2.5 gallons material) or dilute Hydrogen Peroxide (1 cup inl gal <br />of water .then use on spill). May also neutralize using ''/. teaspoon Ascorbic acid for each gallon of liquid.
