3774, Hoover Road, Blasdell, NY 14219. Tel: (716) 821 7830. Fax (716) 8210790.
www.activatedcarbon.com
Office of the Board Of Public Works
13`h Floor County- City Building, room 1316
227 West Jefferson,
South Bend, IN 46601 March 10, 2017
REF:- Bid- Granular Activated Carbon Re -activation and Virgin Replacement
Dear Sir
Thank you for inviting our company to bid for the above supply and service.
We are making this bid jointly with Cabot Carbon ( Norit ) who are a US manufacturer of virgin potable water
granular activated carbon produced from bituminous coal. Calgon and Cabot are the only manufacturers of these
activated carbons in the USA. A sample and confirmation analyses have been mailed directly to you from Cabot
Carbon as requested in the bid document. Cabot —Norit Americas have been manufacturing activated carbon in the
USA since 1921. Carbon activated was established in 1993.
We confirm we operate 2 NSF certified reactivation facilities for potable water carbons, one located in Blasdell, NY
and one in Compton, CA. We enclose our NSF certificate for our Blasdell facility where we propose to reactivate
the carbon form your water treatment plant.
We have reviewed the bid document and visited the water treatment plant and we confirm we can fully meet your
specifications and service requirements with our in house service teams and equipment.
We have quoted as requested and completed the revised costing sheet. We would like to point out that for the
reactivated carbon, using 20%virgin make up, that only 96000 Ibs of reactivated carbon plus 24000 Ibs of virgin
would actually be required to complete the carbon replacement in the 6 filters. We have quoted for 120000 Ibs as
requested.
Please find enclosed our completed bid document, bid bond and supporting documentation.
Sincerely,
Chnstlen .
