MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN THE WAGE COMMITTEE OF THE FRATERNAL <br />ORDER OF POLICE LODGE NO. 36 AND THE SOUTH <br />BEND COMMON COUNCIL <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into on this <br />Q,! day of Q_t , 1978 between the Fraternal Order <br />of Police Lodge No. -- 6, hereinafter referred to as "POLICE <br />OFFICERS" and the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, hereinafter referred to as "COUNCIL ". <br />The parties mutually agree as follows: <br />SECTION I. Purpose. The POLICE OFFICERS and the COUNCIL <br />have entered into this Memorandum of Understanding to incorporate <br />all understandings previously reached with regards to the salary <br />and benefit package for 1980. The parties hereto believe that <br />such a memorandum sets forth the understandings which resulted <br />from good faith bargaining sessions. The parties further believe <br />that such a memorandum will serve the best interests of the com- <br />munity as well as provide a means of amicably resolving the 1980 <br />salary and benefit package. <br />SECTION II. Allocation of $200,OODfor Salaries. The <br />POLICE OFFICERS and COUNCIL agree that a total of Two Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) shall be allocated among the ranks <br />represented by the Wage Committee. The parties further agree <br />that the specific allocation of such monies shall be determined <br />by the parties no later than by the last Common Council meeting <br />in July 1979. The parties also agree that such monies shall be <br />allocated so that each person within the bargaining unit shall <br />receive not less than Seven Hundred and Seventy -Eight Dollars <br />($778.00) per person. <br />SECTION III. Split Salary Increase. The POLICE OFFICERS <br />and COUNCIL agree <br />two (2) separate <br />salary increases <br />1, 1980. <br />to the concept of splitting salary increases in <br />amounts. The parties further agree that such <br />would take effect on January 1, 1980 and July <br />SECTION IV. Continued Good Faith Bargaining. The POLICE <br />OFFICERS and COUNCIL agree to continue good faith bargaining on <br />the specifics of the 1980 salary and fringe benefit package begin- <br />ning in April of 1979. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed this Plemoran- <br />dum of Understanding by their authorized representatives in South <br />Bend, Indiana, on this day of 1978. <br />
