June 27, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, June 27, 1960 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />Comes now Thomas Roemer, attorney, who appears for and in behalf of Gerald McGinn of the <br />City of South Bend Fire Department who was directed to appear before the Board for <br />a hearing this date on alleged violations of Art. XIV. Sec. 6 and Sec. 15-a of <br />the Rules and Regulations of bhe Fire Department. On motion of the Board, hearing <br />continued to the 5th day of July, 1960 at 10.00 A.M. <br />Comes now Y.C. Magee and John Grabarz of the BuildingDepartment with a progress <br />report on the repair order of the structure located at 615 E. Ohio Street. After <br />hearing the report on the progress, this hearing was continued until July 5, <br />1960 to allow the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department to inspect said <br />premises and report findings. <br />John Grabarz and Clem Wrzesien appear before the Board with a progress report <br />on the structure located at 1019 Western Avenue. Mr. Wrzesin was given 45_days__ <br />to clean up structure and John Grabarz reports that these premises are still in <br />a very bad condition. The Board continued this case until July 11, 1960. If <br />the necessary work has not been completed by that date, the City will act on the <br />Demolition Order. <br />Vernon Lane, Building Department Commissioner, appeared before the Board for <br />permission to move a two story frame dwelling from 1507 Lincolnway West to <br />2422 W. Rogers Street. All residents have been notified and have been Balled <br />and none have appeared. Said dwelling has been examined by the Building Department <br />and found to be in good condition except for the followings,glectrical wiring <br />must be brought up to standard and a broken floor joist repaired. The Board <br />grants permit to move this swelling upon the indemnification of the City wLth ' <br />an indemnity bond,affiduvits for itility companies and further that said dwelling <br />shall not be occupied until these provisions have been met. <br />Comes now Officer Marvin C. Martz of the South Bend Police Department and requests <br />leave of absence to attend Reserve Training with the Marine Corps from July 30, <br />1960 through August 13, 1960. The request was granted. <br />Fire Chief Alex Andrzejewski presented a letter from the Firemen's Pension Fund <br />concerning relevant pension fund business brought up at a meeting of the Board <br />of Trustees of the Pension Fund on June 23, 1960. The letter was read and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, reported that Studebaker -Packard Corporation <br />requested the utilization of an opening in a fence at the nartheast:;:,corner._6f <br />Kendall Street and the Penesylvania Railroad spur line for vehicular traffic. <br />This was investigated on June 21, 1960. Mr. Hazinski reported that he finds <br />no objection to this as to traffic safety and the request is so approved, and <br />the written report ordered placed on file. <br />The Police Department submitted a Street Light Outage Report which was examined <br />and placed on file. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:45 A.M. <br />Chai�Aan <br />Attest: Ajhony J.
