104 <br />May 16, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 169 1960 <br />at 10.-00 A M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. Said applicant having passed all required written <br />examinations and the physical examination by the City Doctor and further having <br />Been' acepted "for manberahip''it t"tie 1�alice aFa'nsiar� sE�rid 'his ~appntattti11 <br />become effective on this, the 16th day of May, 1960. <br />Application from Frederick Phillip Odusch for the Police Department was examined <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />Special Police Bond for Maria Van Kirk was received and ordered placed on file. <br />Application from Terrance Patrick Nowicki for the Fire Department was examined <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />Comes now Rev. Bowles in response to a letter sent to him by John Grabarz, Director <br />of the Sub -Standard Building Division of the Building Department at the direction <br />of the Board at their meeting of May 9, 1960 concerning the removal of a frame <br />addition to a masonry building located at 318 S. Iowa Street. Rev. Bowles had <br />agreed to remove the frame addition but has not yet done so. The Board now <br />directs Rev. Bowles to remove the aforementioned frame addition by June 11 1960 <br />or the Building Department is directed to remove said frame addition. <br />The monthly report of the Division of Weights and Measures is presented by Mr. <br />Bert S. Cichowicz and is hereby accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />Comes now one Edward Heston, owner of a house located at 2914 S. Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana with a request to have the above -mentioned house moved from <br />2914 S. Michigan Street to 117 E. Irvington, South Bend, Indiana. The mover of <br />this dwelling is J. Mitchelen. The Board is"advised by Verner Lane of the <br />Building Department that inspection of the house and lot has been made and found <br />to be in good condition with the exception of the electrical wiring, and it is <br />recommended that this house be rewired. Upon completion of the rewiring and <br />there being no remonstrators, the permit toirmove is approved. <br />This being the date set for a Progress Report on the condemnation order, comes <br />now one Mr.`. C. Magee of 506 Keasey Street, South Bend, Indiana after a 30 day <br />continuance'of this matter. Mfr. John Grabarz of the Building Department reports <br />that up t� this date no repair work has been done on this property. By order of the Board letters <br />were sent to the owners of the above -mentioned property to appear before the Board <br />at the regular meeting on May 16, 1960. Since owners failed to appear at this <br />meeting, the Board now authorizes the Building Department to deliver letter personally <br />or mail a registered letter, return receipt_;requested, to the said owners requesting <br />them to appear before the Board at the regular Board meeting on the 31st day of <br />May, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. to show cause why no action has been taken to bring the <br />Oibperty in` que-stjon.-up,_-3o ;ttandard. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was called <br />adjourned at In in A.M. <br />Attest: arJtXn_y J.
