There being no further business to come before the Board, the � meeting was called ad- <br />journed at 9100 A.M. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />Attest: Antj ft J. Sabo, Clerk <br />U May 21 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 2, 1960 at <br />10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were <br />read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />Special police bonds are now approved for Robert Smith and Garwood E. Schroff. <br />Special police applications are now approved for Ralph Estel Fouts, Jr. and Julius <br />Yuhouse. <br />The Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension Fund hereby informs the Board of Public <br />Works & Safety of the acceptance of Dr. Richard W. Holdeman to the Pension Fund Medi- <br />cal examining staff. The appointment of Dr. Holdeman is the result of a vacancy cre- <br />ated when Dr. Robert B. Sanderson previously requested dissociation as the pension <br />fund's medical examiner. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police <br />Department 3-wheel motorcycles were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication -',in <br />the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in The Record <br />with an affidavit signed by Ruby McMahon were submitted to the Board and found suffi- <br />cient. The single bid received,reads as follows: <br />Harley Davidson Sales Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Two (2) 3-wheel Motorcycles <br />Total bid price ------- $2796.40 <br />The bid will be taken under advisement and study and will be awarded at the next <br />regular Board meeting. <br />The Board hereby approves the appointment of George Gyori and Ernest Rozanski to <br />the South Bend Fire Department. Said applicants have passed all required written <br />examinations and the physical examinations by the City Doctor and further having <br />been accepted for membership in the Pension Fund of the Fire Department, the appoint- <br />ment shall become effective the 2nd day of May, 1960. <br />It appearing to the Board that notice of condemnation was served by the Building De- <br />partment to Ison and Addie Townsend, 147 N. Wellington as well as the Muhammab Temple <br />of Islam addressed to 535 S. Green Street in Chicago, Illinois with reference to the <br />structure located at 147 N. Wellington and it also appearing that no action was taken <br />to this date, therefore, said matter is referred to the Board of Public Works & Safety <br />for hearing. After examining evidence on this matter as submitted by the Building De- <br />partment, the Board hereby directs the Sub Standard Division of the Building Depart- <br />ment to proceed with the legal advertising of bids for condemnation of same. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meting was called ad- <br />journed at 10:20 A.M. / <br />--- ---------------- <br />Chairman <br />Clerk <br />
