III <br />�J <br />[1 <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was called adjourned <br />at 10:40 A.M. <br />Attest: Anthony <br />CHAIRMAN <br />April 25, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April 259, 1960 at <br />10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were <br />read and approved. Claims were ordered paid to the various suppliers., <br />The monthly report of Marchq 1960 and the annual report of the Police Department is <br />hereby accepted and placed on file. <br />Nick Horvath, Electrical Department Superintendent, recommends installation of 4000 <br />lumen lights at: <br />514 East Howard Street <br />Ewing and Meade Streets <br />Ewing and Wabash Streets <br />Meade and Delaware Streets <br />Wabash and Calvert Streets <br />Wabash and Delaware Streets <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and placed on file <br />for Norma Boettcher. <br />The Board hereby approves the appointment of Martin Mersich to the South Bend Fire De- <br />partment. Said applicant has passed all required written examinations and the physical <br />examinations by the City Doctor and further having been accepted for membership in the <br />Pension Fund of the Fire Department, his appointment shall become effective the l'st day <br />of May, 1960. <br />Comes now Lewis Jackson and Harry Taylor representing Walter McCartney reference to the <br />matter of a condemnation order issued against the property:.located at 510 W. Calvert and <br />said parties inform the Board that it would cost more than the value of said building <br />to bring it up to Building Code standards and therefore said parties request permission <br />to have this matter continued for 60 days to have said building demolished. The Board <br />hereby grants said continuance until June 279 1960. Further in regards to this matter, <br />comes now John Grabarz of the Building Department, and recommends that said building be <br />boarded up at'this time until June 279 1960. Further in regards to this matter, Mr. Jack- <br />son informs the Board that he will have the receiver board up said building within 2 weeks <br />from date unless it is torn down before that date.
