The Board now approves the following recommendation of the Chief of Police for promotions <br />in the Police Department: <br />Sergeant Orson Harmon to be promoted to the rank.of Captain, and take over the Command <br />of the 3rd Detail. <br />Det. Sgt. Richard Bauer to be promoted to the Rank of Detective Lieutenant and take <br />charge of the night Detective Detail. <br />Sergeant Cornelius Nicholas to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and shall be Day <br />Lieutenant in the Traffic Bureau. <br />Officer Rudolph A. Horvath to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall report to <br />Captain Hadrick for assignment. <br />Officer Bernard J. Reiter to be promoted to Assistant Radio Technician, and shall re- <br />port to Captain Badics for assignment. Rank of Sergeant. <br />Officer Daniel Martin to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall report to the <br />3rd Detail. <br />Officer Woodrow McDaniel to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall retain present <br />assignment. <br />The above promotions are to be effective March 16, 1960. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M.'it was so announced and the bids for the Police De- <br />partment were openedand read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune <br />with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit signed by <br />E. H. Hickey were submitted -to the Board and found sufficient. The bids received read as <br />follows: <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Four (4) 1960 Studebaker Lark 4-door Sedans <br />Total net price ---------- $8032.64 <br />Newman Altman Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Four (4) 1960 60V-W4 Studebaker V-8 4-door Sedans <br />Total net price ---------- $8196.00 <br />The Board after examining said bids have awarded the bid to Freeman Spicer Company, <br />being the lowest bidder, for the abovementioned price. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:50 A.M. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />
