The Board now approves the following recommendation of the Chief of Police for promotions in the Police Department: Sergeant Orson Harmon to be promoted to the rank.of Captain, and take over the Command of the 3rd Detail. Det. Sgt. Richard Bauer to be promoted to the Rank of Detective Lieutenant and take charge of the night Detective Detail. Sergeant Cornelius Nicholas to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and shall be Day Lieutenant in the Traffic Bureau. Officer Rudolph A. Horvath to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall report to Captain Hadrick for assignment. Officer Bernard J. Reiter to be promoted to Assistant Radio Technician, and shall re- port to Captain Badics for assignment. Rank of Sergeant. Officer Daniel Martin to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall report to the 3rd Detail. Officer Woodrow McDaniel to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and shall retain present assignment. The above promotions are to be effective March 16, 1960. The time now being after 10:00 A.M.'it was so announced and the bids for the Police De- partment were openedand read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit signed by E. H. Hickey were submitted -to the Board and found sufficient. The bids received read as follows: Freeman Spicer Company South Bend, Indiana Four (4) 1960 Studebaker Lark 4-door Sedans Total net price ---------- $8032.64 Newman Altman Company South Bend, Indiana Four (4) 1960 60V-W4 Studebaker V-8 4-door Sedans Total net price ---------- $8196.00 The Board after examining said bids have awarded the bid to Freeman Spicer Company, being the lowest bidder, for the abovementioned price. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 A.M. CHAIRMAN
