The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it'was so announced and the bids for the Police <br />Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tri- <br />bune with an affidavit _signed by Robert:DeLong and in the -Record with:an affidavit <br />signed by E. H... Hickey were submitted to;the.Board and found sufficient. ,The bids <br />received read as follows: <br />Freeman.Spicer Company.' <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Two' <br />Newman Altman Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />TWO, <br />(2) 1960 Studebaker Lark 4-door Sedars <br />Total bid price ------- $3796.2D <br />(2) 1960 4-door sedan, V-"W4" Studebaker Lark <br />Total bid price ------ S39,25iXG <br />The Board having examined said bids, and EemanSicmra being the lowest and best bidder, <br />the bid is now awarded to the Fie.eman-'Sp.ices Comp yat the abovementioned bid price. - <br />Comes now John Grabarz of the Building Department and informs the Board that in regards <br />to the hearing on the house moving petition wherein a request had been presented to the <br />Board to move a house from 2916 E. Mishawaka Avenue to 737-29th Street and a.Mr. and Mrs. <br />Marvin Hartzell remonstrated,, said remonstrators having been advised and .satisfied on all <br />details of said move now withdraw said remonstrance, therefore permission is hereby grant- <br />ed to move the house from 2916 E. Mishawaka Avenue to 737-29th Street. <br />Following is a letter from the South Bend Firemen's Association which the Board approves <br />this 29th day of February, 1960: <br />To the Board: <br />Subject to your approval, the South Bend Firemen's Association have chosen as a project <br />the displaying of markers on the homes of citizens who are invalids or who.are blind. <br />The purpose of these markers are to inform the firemen responding to an alarm -at a.house <br />displaying the marker that an invAlid lives in the home. <br />The displaying of these markers would not only speed up rescue operations, but would pro- <br />mote better public relations. <br />The cost of this program would be taken care of by the South Bend Firemen's Association <br />as a matter of public service. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Robert Loughlin <br />Jack Bland <br />Robert Riba <br />(Committee on Markers) <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was called ad- <br />iourned at 10:45 A.M. <br />J <br />1 <br />
