January 25, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 25, 1960 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were <br />read and approved. <br />The Board hereby enters into an agreement with the Portage Township for, fire protection <br />service for said township for the year 1960. Signed this 25th day of January, 1960 <br />and placed on file in the office of the Board. <br />The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for a Fire Apparatus for the South <br />Bend Fire Department and also a Base Station for the Radio Shop of the South Bend <br />Police Department. <br />Applications for the South Bend Fire Department are hereby examined and placed on file <br />for Noel Maxwell, Martin Hitt, Edmund Gorka, William Jones, and Theodore Cebulski. <br />Applications for the Police Department are examined and placed on file for Cloyde <br />Coffman, Hoel Maxwell, William Hock, and Carl Zwierzynski. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are examined and placed on file for <br />Helen Mandich. <br />The monthly report of the Police Department is hereby accepted and placed on file. <br />r� The Board hereby approves .the appointment of Daniel W. Tafelski to the South Bend Fire <br />Department. Said applicant has passed all required written examinations and the phy- <br />sical examination by the City Doctor and further has been accepted for membership in <br />the Pension Fund of the respective department, his appointment will become effective <br />the 1st day of February, 1960. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police <br />Department sedans were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend <br />Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit <br />signed by E. H. Hickey were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The bids re- <br />ceived read as follows: <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Two (2) 1960 Larks Regal Deluxe 4-door Sedans <br />Total bid price ------- $4490.00 <br />Newman Altman Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Two (2) 1960 V-716, Lark Regal V8 4-door Sedan <br />Total bid price -------- $4417.96 <br />The bids will be taken under advisement and study and will be awarded at the next <br />regular Board meeting. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meing was called ad- <br />journed at 10:40 A.M. <br />CHA <br />ATTEST: Ai1THV)N J.
