November 9, 1959 <br />A regular meeting of -the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November 9, 1959 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. <br />The monthly report of the Weights & Measures Department for October, 1959 is here- <br />by accepted and placed on file. <br />Applications for the Police Department are hereby accepted and placed on file for <br />Joseph Egyed. <br />Appl'icatkons for the School Patrol are hereby examined and placed on file for Virginia <br />Sniadecki. <br />Special police application approved for Ruby Jenkins. <br />The resignation of John W. Porte from the South Bend Police Department effective on <br />Thursday, December 10, 1959 having completed 20 years of active service with the <br />Police Department and also the'resignation of Clem F. Hazinski to become effective <br />the 25th day of November, 1959 is hereby approved by the Board. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police <br />and Fire Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South <br />Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an <br />affidavit signed by W. DeCanio were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. <br />The bids received read as follows: <br />Police Department <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 Studebaker Lark 4-door Sedan <br />Total bid price ------- $1996.09 <br />Newman Altman Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 V-8 Deluxe Lark 4-door Sedan <br />Total bid price ------- $1980.00 <br />Fire Department <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 Studebaker Lark Regal Deluxe 4-door <br />Station Wagon <br />Total bid price ------- $3493.80 <br />Neuman Altman Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 V-P6 Regal Deluxe 4-door Station Wagon V-8 <br />Total bid price -------- $3505.00 <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was called <br />adjourned at 10:45 A.M. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />Attest: A t ny J.
