UP <br />October 19, 1959 <br />1 <br />r- <br />A regular :meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October 19$ 1959 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. Claims for the Board of Safety were approved and ordered <br />paid. <br />Special police applications were approved for James.Perry, 403 Studebaker Street. <br />Special policemen's bond approved for William Nichols. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are hereby approved for Dorothy <br />Metzger and Martha Pepin. <br />A petition is hereby received from Ella Mae Gohman, 842 S. 31st Street and several <br />others asking for the improvement of the intersection of alley east of 31st Street <br />and the alley north of Mishawaka Avenue by the construction of street lighting. Pe- <br />tition is hereby referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation. <br />A petition is hereby presented to the Board from Don M. Lowenstine and several others <br />asking for the improvement of the 100 block of. Jacob Street by the construction of <br />street lighting. Petition referred to the Electrical Department for investigation. <br />The monthly report of the Weights & Measures Department for October 1959 is hereby <br />accepted and placed on file. <br />The time, now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Fire <br />Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune <br />with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit signed by <br />Mr. Hickey were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The bids received read as <br />follows: <br />Newman Altman Company, <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 Lark 4-door Deluxe Station Wagon <br />Total net price --------- $$3359.00 <br />Regal Deluxe ----------- $3453.00 <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />One (1) 1960 4-door Station Wagon <br />Total net price -------- $3322.50 <br />Regal Deluxe -------- $3423.80 <br />The bids will be taken under aftisement and awarded at the next regular Board meeting. <br />There being no further business to come before theBoard, it was so an ced and the <br />meeting was called adjourned at 10:30 AM. ^ A <br />Attest: AnthbrM J.
