August 31, 1959 <br />n <br />1 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,. August 31, 1959 - <br />at 10:00.A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were <br />read and approved. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are hereby examined and placed on <br />file for Ann Mahoney. <br />Permission is hereby granted to Fire Chief and Capt Marks of the South Bend Fire De- <br />partment to attend the Fire Chief's Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 1, <br />2, and 3, 1959.Further on Tuesday, September 8, 1959 permission is granted to Asst. <br />Chief Doran and Batt. Chief Lederer to attend the Fire Training School at Purdue Univer- <br />sity and on Thursday, September 10, 1959 Fire Chief Alex and another fireman will the <br />same school for one day. <br />In regards to the hearing for Alto Comer, owner of the property located at 205 N. Huey <br />Street, the hearing will be continued until September 14, 1959 and Attorney Allen rep- <br />resenting Mr. Comer, informs the Board that demolition of same will be completed by <br />that date. <br />A petition is hereby submitted to the Board from Jay Wilcoxen, 614 East Keasey Street <br />and several othersasking for the improvement of Whitman Court and Keasey Street by <br />the construction of a street light. Petition referred to the City Electrical Depart- <br />ment for investigation and recommendation. <br />A petition is hereby submitted to the Board from Mrs. A. Ivancsics, 232 North Huey <br />Street and several, others asking for the improvement of the northeast corner of North <br />Huey and the alley near 230 North Huey by the construction of street lighting. Petition <br />referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />A petitions is hereby submitted to the Board .from Walter Glass for R. J. Overholser, <br />927 S. 36th Street and several others asking for the improvement of the 900 block of <br />36th Street halfway between Mishawaka Avenue and Vine Street by the Construction of <br />Street Lighting. Petition referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation <br />and recommendation. <br />Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends installatio <br />of the following 4000 lumen lights: <br />At the intersection of Rosemary Lane and Dorwood Street <br />At the cross alley between Maple and McPherson, north of Western Avenue <br />T Here being no further business to come before the Board, it was so announced and the <br />meeting was called adjourned at 10:35 A.M.
