June 1, 1959 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, June 19 1959 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $5525.77were approved and <br />ordered paid to the following suppliers: <br />American Dist. Distributing <br />76.76 <br />Applications for the Police <br />Auxiliary School <br />Patrol are hereby accepted and <br />placed <br />on file for Eleanor Ehlen. <br />The Bid for the Police Department for one (1) <br />desk model Deceptograph is <br />hereby a- <br />warded to Midwest Fire & Safety Company for <br />the total price of $1,700.00. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police <br />Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune <br />with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit signed <br />by Ruby McMahon were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The Board now being <br />informed that there were no bids received for the Motorcycle, the Clerk is therefore <br />directed to investigate the possibility of purchasing the equipment. <br />Comes now John Grabarz of the Building Department and informs the Board that pursuant <br />to hearing reference to structure located at 7282 N. Blaine and also 123 S. Dundee St. <br />that the owners were given the option to either demolish or repair said structures and <br />in both cases the owners did not see fit to repair the structures, therefore demolition <br />of both has been completed. <br />The Board hereby approves and accepts the decision of the Board members to grant Michael <br />J. Jackey a monthly disability pension of $231.36 or 55% of a fully paid first class <br />firemen's salary governed by the provisions of the pension laws and upon recommendation <br />of J. Paul English, medical examiner, whose physical findings were to the effect that <br />Jackey's incapacitation would forestall him from performing the vigorous duties indi- <br />dent to the fire service. This pension will become effective June 16, 1959. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:45 A.M. <br />
