1 tC1 F1 South Bend Police Department and at said time and place acting in a loud, -boisterous and disorderly manner so as to distuizb the'op- erations of said police department by his tumultuous, offensive, be- lligerent and undignified behavior; that the said Jaohn A. Haney was not on duty at said time and that further said acts were contrary to Regulation 9 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department of the City of South Bend adopted January, 1956. By: IRVING J. SMITH, PRESIDENT Board of PublicSafety Dated January 15, 1959 Comes now John A. Haney at this time and admits that he received the Notice of the hearing to be held before the Board of Public Safety this 19th day of January, 1959 on his violation of Regulation 9 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department of the City of South Bend as served personnaly to him by Officer Cor- nelius Nicholas of the South Bend Police Department. Chairman Smith now reads the charges as filed against said Haney and also the section on Regulation 9 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Departmentof the City of South Bend. Said Haney admits that he was in violation of Regulation 9 and pleads guilty to the charges. After due consideration, the Board makes the following finding in regards to said Haney: Officer John A. Haney of the South Bend Police Department pltads::guilty to charges against him of Regulation 9 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department and will be suspended from police duty from the 14th day of January, 1959 up to and including the 20th day of January, 1959 and will return to work for duty on the 21st day of January, 1959; further, said Haney will be fined the sum of one -hundred ($100.00) dollars and beginning with the next pay period the sum of five ($5.00) dollars will be withheld and will continue until the fine terminates. A petition is hereby received from Mrs. Robert Weller, 2218 Bertrand Street asking for the improvement of 2200 and 2300 W. Bertrand Street from Huey Street to Olive Street by the construction of street lights in the middle of block. Referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tri- bune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an affidavit signed by W. DeCanio were submitted to the Board and found swfficient. The bids re- ceived read as follows: Newman Altman Company South Bend, Indiana A non -collusion affidavit and a certified check in the amount of $500.00 accompanied the bid. Three (3) 4-door V8 Sedans Studebaker Model 59V-W4 Total price one unit --------------- $2398.99 Total price three units------------ 7196.97 Less trade-ins Total net price ------ $4507.63 (3 units) Freeman Spicer Company A non -collusion affidavit and a South Bend, Indiana certified check in the amount of $440.00 accompanied the bid. Three (3) 4-door VW49 V-8 Engine Studebaker Larks Total price one unit -------------- $2565.61 Total price three units----------- 7696.83 Less trade-ins and discount Total net price ------ $4395.22 (3 units) The bids will be taken under advisement and study and will be awarded at the next regular meeting of the Board on -Monday, January 26, 1959.
