November 17, 1958 <br />A regular meeting ofthe Board of Public Works & Safety was held on Monday, <br />November 17, 1958 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total amount <br />of $59389.45 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers: <br />American Dist. Ziegler <br />4.00 <br />Comes now a one Mr. Russell Fisher, representing <br />his clients Henry <br />and Sarah <br />Rogers, 101 S. Kentucky Street <br />in regards <br />to a condemnation order issued <br />to the <br />Rogers on a dwelling located <br />on their property. <br />Mr. Fisher reports <br />that the <br />Rogers were instructed by the <br />Building <br />Commissioner , as set out in <br />a list of <br />repair items submitted to them. to make <br />the necessary repairs on the <br />Building <br />located at the Kentucky Street address <br />in order that it would comply <br />with the <br />City Building Code. The Rogers <br />agreed <br />to correct these items and have <br />the house <br />brought up to code standards, <br />however the <br />Board now grants a 30 day <br />extension of <br />time to complete this work and further <br />that the tenant living in said <br />dwelling <br />must be given immediate notice to leave <br />the sub standard structure. <br />Hearing will <br />then be held on December 22, <br />1958 in hte <br />office of the Board to discuss <br />this mat- <br />ter as to further developement. <br />The Building Commissioner, Verner L. Lane, <br />reports to the Board at this <br />time that <br />the owners of the real estate <br />located at <br />105 S. Iowa Street, namely <br />Addie Mae <br />Miller and Sarah Talton have <br />not complied <br />with his order to repair the <br />structure <br />to meet with City Building Code requirements. After hearing Mr. Lane, the Board <br />now directs the Building Department <br />to <br />proceed with demolition of said <br />dwelling. <br />In regards to the hearing on <br />Building Department is directed <br />the property <br />to order <br />owners of 101 S. Chicago Street, the <br />the parties concerned to appear before <br />the Board on November 24, 1958 to show <br />cause why the Building Department <br />order <br />has been ignored. <br />Applications for the Police Department were examined and placed on file for Mr. <br />Richard Coffman. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and ordered <br />placed on file for Martha Hayden. <br />
