64 <br />February 10, 1958 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, February 10, <br />1958 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $5305.23 were <br />approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers: <br />American Dist. Cichowicz, City Sealer, hereby submits to the Board the monthly report <br />for January, 1958. Accepted and placed on file in the office of the Board of <br />Public Works & Safety. <br />Applications for the Fire Department are now examined and placed on file for <br />Eugene J. Staszewski, Emil Toth, James Miller, Marion Makowski, and John Cunning- <br />ham. <br />The Board now approves the appointment of James Robison, Henry Kruszewski, William <br />Stoynoff, and Rocco Simeri to the Police Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Said applicants have passed all required written examinations and also have passed the <br />necessary .physical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor. <br />Therefore the appointment of William Stoynoff, Henry Kruszewski, and James Robison <br />will become effective this loth day of February, 1958 and the appointment of Rocco <br />Simeri will become effective the 12th day of Febuuary, 1958. <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (CST) it was so announced and the bids for the <br />Fire Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication with an affidavit <br />signed by C. G. Lzvengood of the South Bend Tribune and an affidavit signed by Ruby <br />McMahon of the Record were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The single <br />bid received reads as follows: <br />Freeman Spicer Company <br />520 S. Lafayette <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />A non -collusion affidavit and a certified <br />check in the amount of $591.00 accompanied <br />the bid. <br />One (1) 1953 Studebaker Commander BW4 4-door sedan <br />Total net price ---------- $2757.25 <br />One (1) 1958 Studebaker Commander BP4 Station Wagon (4-door) <br />Total net price ---------- $3146.71 <br />The Board now examined the bid and said bid having met with all requirements as set <br />out in the specifications, the Board now awards the bid to Freeman Spicer. <br />There bung no further business to come before the Board, the me <br />journed at 10; 55 A.M.
