Mr. Robert Gammage appeared before the Board with reference to application <br />for a special police officer. Matter taken into consideration and report <br />back at the next regular meeting to be held on February, 3, 1958 at 10:00 <br />A.M. <br />An application for the Fire Department is hereby examined and placed on file <br />for Mr. Robert Janowiak. <br />Nick Horvath, Electrical Superintendent, recommends the installation of the <br />following street lights: <br />4000 lumen light at Lombardy Drive and Ridge Way <br />4000 lumen light at Lombardy Drive and Linden Avenue <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to advertise that a public auction <br />will be held in the Police Station selling all bicycles and other small items <br />that have been lostp abandoned, or stolen and turned into the Police Department. <br />Also to re -advertise for the Fire Department for one (1) 1958 4-door sedan and <br />one (1) 1958 4-door Station Wagon. <br />The Board now approves the appointment of Mr. Daniel J. Mirocha, 1251 Sussex <br />Drive to the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Said applicant <br />has passed all required written examinations and also passed the necessary phy- <br />sical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor and there- <br />fore his appointment shall become effective as of the 1st day of February, 1958. <br />The Board now awards the following bid to Maxim Motor company of Middleboro, <br />Massachusetts. <br />MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY <br />Middleboro, Massachusetts <br />A non -collusion affidavit and a <br />bidder's bond in the amount of <br />$2,600.00 accompanied the bid. <br />One (1) Model 23610 Maxim custom-built motor driven <br />1,000 gallon pumping engine with side entrance <br />canopy cab, as per your specifications, complete <br />for <br />---------------------$239997.25 <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (CST) it was so announced and the bids <br />for the Police Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication <br />with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood of the South Bend Tribune and an <br />affidavit signed by Ruby McMahon of the Record were submitted to the Board and <br />found sufficient.
