specifically interested in actually becoming family therapists. <br />Component III: Two-day group pr(7cans trainlnn to he completed in month 3. <br />This training component will consist of staff members and will uti 1 izc the <br />hsitroy the staff has together as content for teaching groups process theory. <br />Additional skills and techniques will be provided for working with groups. This <br />training experience in group process will apply to the family as a croup. <br />Component I'l: Leadership training for groups to be completed in months 3 & 4. <br />With the background and Lase of Component III, selected staff will participate <br />in leadership training for group skills. • Trainers working directly with staff <br />through at least two six session sets of workshops will he we primary teaching <br />format. The group scss i ons w i l l be followed by debriefing discussions so the <br />learning can be incorporated into a ;hole. Primary focus will he on Runar:ay Shel- <br />ter clients, both parents and youth. The spin -off efFect will be that other <br />Youth Service Bu-eau staff will be expected to facilitate youth counseling groups. <br />Component V: On -doing case supervision throughout the one -year prog ral r. <br />. This portion of training includes direct supervis on of staff who arc in- <br />volved in providing family therapy. All trainees in this component will be seeing <br />families and will be willing to present their work to peers and trainers. The <br />supervision of cases will be in small group /groups and may Include the use of <br />video or audio tape, and /or live supervision through a one -way mirror. Familias <br />present a great deal of material in a very short time and beginning family <br />therapists especially need some on -going case consultation. Forty -five waakq, <br />representing supervision over a one year period is a minimum period of time for <br />consultation. <br />Desired nutcomps From Training <br />1.
