April 15, 1957 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April 15, 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST). All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meet- ing were read and approved. Charles Dutrieux, Officer Edward Wetter- gren will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Traffi c Bureau. Board hereby approves the recommendation of the Police Chief. The Board hereby approves the appointment of Leroy Wayne Collins to the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Said applicant having passed all necessary exami- nations and also having passed physical examinations by both the City Doctor and Pension Board Doctor, his appointment shall be come effective as of April 16, 1957. Sgt. Elmer Sokol hereby submits to the Board his application for retirement from the City of South Bend Police Department. Police Chief hereby informs the Board that said Sokol is now on terminal leave beginning 4-11-57 through 4-25-57 inclusive and his retiremefit to become effective as of April 25, 1957. Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department Superintendent, recommends the installation of the following lights and also increased lighting at the various locations as follows: Install one (1) 4000 lumen light at 312 N. Scott, between LaSalle & Oak. Install one (1) 4000 lumen light at the corner of Corby and Hickory. Install one (1) 4000 lumen light at the corner of Brookton and Ireland Install one (1) 4000 lumen light on Hickory Road at the entrance of the Lagoon, one block south of Corby Street. Install one (1) 4000 lumen light in the 400 Block North Frances Street. Increase from 4000 lumen to 6000 lumen at Jefferson and 26th Street. Increase from 4000 lumen to 109,000 lumen at McKinley and 27th Street. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meetin was adjourned at 10:55 A.M. (CST). :,HAIRMAN
