South Bend Fire Department
701 W. Sample St.
South Bend, Ind. 46625
Timothy J. Brassell
Fire Chief
CITY of SOUTH BEND
ROGER O. PARENT, Mayor
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
January 23, 1980
South Bend Common Council
4th Floor
County -City Building
South Bend, Ind. 46601
Honorable Council Members:
This request for fund transfer is necessary in order to pay for the
purchase of two radios and two defibrillator -heart monitors to be
used by our Paramedic ambulances.
The total cost of this equipment is $22,000.00. If the Department was
required to pay the entire sum from our "Other Equipment" budget,
this account would be depleted from $24,495.00 to $2,495.00 not
considering money already spent.
The reason the telemetry radios were not originally budgeted was
that the Department was unaware of federally mandated changes in
the licensing of these radios prior to the preparation of the 1980
budget.
The new Monitor Defibrillators are replacements for units which
are three years old or older, and additionally have several improved
features.
As always, I am available at your convenience to answer any questions.
Sincerely,
i
Timothy J' BrasseII
Fire Chief
South Bend Fire Department
TJB /vm
