II. Collections and Exhibits (continued) <br />A grant from the Institute of Museum Services would help the museum's collections <br />and exhibits programs in several ways. By hiring a Curator of Education, the <br />museum's present curator would become a Curator of Collections and would have more <br />time to devote to the care and cataloguing of the collections, research for <br />temporary exhibitions, long range planning involving the collections, administering <br />the museum's library and archival holdings, and developing solutions to conservation <br />problems. The grant would also assure that necessary monies will be available to <br />support the operation of the museum at the current or an expanded level. The funds <br />to be used for general operating expenses will guarantee the ongoing of present <br />programs in a period of an unstable and inflated economy. <br />14 <br />
