August 17, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August <br />17, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid <br />to the various suppliers. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: INSTALLATI,ON ( STREET LIGHT ) <br />Following the recommendation of the Electrical Department Superintendent, <br />the following installation was approved: <br />1 - 6000 Lumen Street Light at corner of Louise & Ruskin -Streets. <br />PETITIONS., STREET ,LIGMS <br />The following Petitions for street light installations were referred to <br />the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation: <br />1. Light on South Kenmore between Washington and Jefferson, petitioned <br />by Councilman Janet Allen. <br />2. Light on pole between 226 and 222.Tuxedo Drive, petitioned by residents <br />on Tuxedo Drive. <br />3. Petition for Street Light at 525 N. Scott Street, requested by residents <br />of N. Scott Street. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Mr. John Grabarz, Supervisor of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building <br />Department advised the Board that Mr. Roland Grant, owner of property <br />located at 1629 Linden Avenue had failed to secure a root beer stand in <br />the rear of his property, as ordered. Mr. Grabarz advised the Board that <br />Mr. Grant had boarded the stand but that the boards had been removed <br />almost immediately by persons unknown and that, in his opinion, it would <br />be impossible to secure the stand permanently. Mr. Grabarz recommended <br />its removal. <br />The Board addressed a letter to Mr. Grant requesting him to contact the <br />President of the Board of Public Works & Safety,: Mr. DuComb, with his <br />reasons as to why he has an actual need for this stand. If no need can <br />be shown, the stand will be removed in the near future. <br />Mr. Grant was requested to carry out this request prior to the meeting of <br />August 24, 1964. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported to the Board that Earl and Vera Brown, owners of <br />property located at 1517 W. Jefferson had failed to appear before the <br />Board as ordered. <br />The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to advertise for bids for demolition of <br />the property. <br />With reference to property owned by Mr. Frank Cook located at 506 S. <br />27th Street, Mr. Grabarz reported that Mr. Cook had failed to appear <br />before the Board, as ordered. <br />The Board directed that the property be vacated and further directed <br />Mr. Grabarz to ppoceed with condemnation. <br />With reference to property owned by Mrs. Dorothy Blad, located at 715 <br />S. Meade Street, Mr. Grabarz advised the Board that Mrs. Blad had <br />failed to appear, as requested. <br />Hearing continued for one week to allow additional time for such appearance. <br />
