August 10, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 101 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (HEARINGS) <br />Comes now Mr'. and Mrs. Blad, owners of property located at 715 S. <br />Meade Street to show cause why property has not been repaired, as <br />ordered. <br />Mr. Grabarz advised the Board that this property had been condemned <br />in 1963. An appeal: had been granted in order to have property repaired. <br />A second appeal was granted for.additional time and the owners given <br />until May, 1964 to accomplish this. At this date nothing has been done <br />and complaints from residents of the area have been made. <br />Mrs. Blad advised the Board that because of illness her husband had <br />not been able to make the repairs. She further stated that she did <br />not know what repairs were necessary. Mr. Grabarz stated that a list <br />of needed repairs had been given to the owners. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Blad requested that -this hearing be continued in order to <br />allow time for a contractor to look at house. Mr. Grabarz was directed <br />to prepare another list of required repairs to bring house up to Code <br />and go over the list with Mr. and Mrs. Blad. <br />The Board continued the hearing until August 17,. 1964 at which time <br />Mr.ead Mrs. Blad must reach a decision whether the house will be repaired <br />or demolished. <br />It was reported to the Board that the root beer standson property owned <br />by Roland Grant are still on the property. Councilman Szymkowiak <br />requested that they be removed or made safe. Location: 1629 Linden Ave. <br />The Board requested Mr. Grabarz to notify Mr. Grant to make the stands <br />safe by next Monday and to be present at the meeting of August 17, 1964. <br />Mr. Grabarz submitted a progress report on property owned by Mr. Frank <br />Cook, located at 506 27th Street. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that a new list of repairs needed had been submitted <br />to Mr. Cook who was to have appeared before -the Board by August 10, 1964 <br />with the contractor who would make the necessary repairs. Mr. Cook <br />failed to appear, although he was notified by Certified Letter. <br />A Mr. Epley was the person named by Mr. Cook as the person who was the <br />buyer of the house and resided at that address. However, Mr. Grabarz <br />reported that his Department was informed by a lady living at the house <br />that Mr. Epley did not live there. Mail addressed to him at the subjet <br />property address was returned unclaimed. <br />Mr. Grabarz was directed by the Board to write to Mr. Cook and advise <br />him that unless he appeared before the Board on August 17. 1964 the <br />Board will let contract for demolition. <br />OPENING OF BIDS:- DEMOLITION - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />The following bids were received for demolition of the properties listed <br />below, were opened by the Board and read aloud. All bids were in order: <br />Property located at: <br />917 Marietta Street. <br />
