August 3, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 3, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: DOUSE MOVE(N. BE:ALE STREET ) <br />Final action'on the proposed house move from the corner of Lincoln <br />Way West and Elmer''to the 1100 block of N. Meade Street scheduled for <br />today was considered by the Board.-. <br />Mrs. Crose, representing the remonstrators, requested that the Petition <br />filed with the Board on July 27, 1964 be re -read. <br />Mr. Bernath, owner of the house, submitted photographs of houses he <br />has moved in the past and Mrs. Crose also submitted picture of house <br />for Boardts examination. <br />A statement was made by a remonstrator who failed to give his name, <br />concerning a covenant running with the entire plat that a house moved <br />must be improved to the extent of the original value. <br />No elaboration to the statement was made. <br />After hearing all who wished to be heard, the Board ruled that there is <br />nothing illegal about the proposed move and said move is hereby granted. <br />The move must conform to all building codes of the City of South Bend. <br />Mr. Bernath introduced a witness, Mr. Ivory, as a proof that he maintains <br />his properties who spoke in favor of the house move. A telegram was <br />also received from Mr. and Mrs. Dale Rerick attesting to the fact that <br />Mr. Bernath maintains his properties in good condition. <br />A Petition from residents on Allen Street for alley improvement by <br />gravel, stop or caution sign for children in area and street light on <br />Allen in 500 block was referred to the Electrical Department and also <br />the Traffic Engineer for investigation and report. <br />PETITION: STREET LIGHT ( COLUIVBIA & FOX STREETS ) <br />A Petition from residents of the area for installation of a street light <br />at the corner of Columbia and Fox Streets and also one at intersection <br />between Fox and Ewing was referred to the Electrical Department for <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />APPLICATIONS: SPECIAL POLICE CU NISSIONS ( HURWICH IROj CCUPAN ) <br />The following Special Police Commissions for employees of Hurwich Iron <br />Company were approved, pending receipt of Bonds: <br />Reginald E. VanSleet , Myles F. Hooton, Gary D. Carmean and James A. <br />Lansdale. <br />STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM: APPROACHES TO SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE ( I & M ) <br />The Street Lighting System for the approaches to the Sample Street Bridge <br />as proposed by the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company and recorded in <br />the Minutes of the Board_ of Public Works & Safety on Page 663 is hereby <br />referred to Eugene Radecki of the Electrical Department. <br />
