3 <br />Department of Weights & Measures and as a portion of that bid, Gates <br />Corporation made an allowance to the City the sum of $1,199.35 for <br />trade-in and Federal Excise Tax; and now., coming to the attention of <br />the Board that prior to the trade of the new car, an accident occurred <br />in which the trade-in vehicle was demolished and is a total lose except <br />for salvage value; it is now ordered by the Board of Public Safety that <br />Gates Corporation having delivered the new vehicle, be paid the amount <br />of money set forth in the bid and that Gates Corporation be instructed <br />to file a claim with the City for the lose and destruction of the <br />trade-in vehicle. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 11:35 A.M. <br />Att st: Richard Dusk, Cler <br />July 13, 1964 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 13, <br />1964 at 9:30 A.M. Messrs.Robert J. DuComb and James A. Bickel were present. <br />Also present were Fire Chief McHenry and Assistant Chief Busfield and Fireman <br />Thomas John Quire, Jr. <br />The Board of Public Safety, having taken under advisement the evidence <br />given to the Board on the 6th day of July, 1964 pursuant to the charges <br />made against Fireman Thomas John Quirk, Jr., of the South Bend Fire Depart- <br />ment by the Chief of the Fire Department, now finds that the charges con- <br />tained in the specifications are true and that they constitute a violation <br />of the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department. <br />Therefore, the Board now finds that Fireman Thomas John Quirk, Jr. shall <br />be suspended from the South Bend Fire Department as a disciplinary measure <br />without pay for a period of an additional thirty days, effective this date, <br />and that upon the expiration of said thirty days he shall be restored to <br />full duty. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 9:45 A.M. <br />Attest: Richar .
