2010 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance -Page 2 <br />Section I. Reco nition: The South Bend Common Council recognizes the Fire Negotiating Team <br />which represents the South Bend Firefighters' Association Local No. 362 of the International <br />Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South <br />Bend Fire Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes <br />of negotiating annual pay and monetary fringe benefits which are addressed in this ordinance. <br />Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean <br />categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. <br />(b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual <br />pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department shall be as follows: <br />Salary Classification <br />Fire Chief <br />Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />Battalion Chiefs <br />Captains <br />Engineers <br />First Class Firefighter <br />Second Class Firefighter <br />Third Class Firefighter <br />Firefighter <br />Effective 04-01-09 Effective O 1-01-10 <br />$78,189 $78,189 <br />$71,724 $71,724 <br />$61,897 $61,897 <br />$50,901 $50,901 <br />$49,066 $49,066 <br />$44,150 $47,150 <br /> $44,150 <br /> $36,121 <br />$36,121 <br />Recognizing the Board of Public Safety's role, the Common Council believes that sworn members of <br />the South Bend Fire Department hired prior to January 1, 2010, should be grandfathered. The Council <br />believes that they should be eligible under the promotion system then in place prior to January 1, <br />2010, if such sworn member(s) of the South Bend Fire Department are determined to be qualified by <br />the Board of Public Safety. <br />(c). Annual Pad for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of <br />the South Bend Fire Department shall be $35,613 for the 2010 calendar year. <br />(d).
