313 <br />April 69 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />April 6, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular 'meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />AWARDING BID: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( 15 CARS ) <br />After due examination, it appearing that the followingis the lowest and <br />best bid for 15 automobiles for the Police Department, said bid is now <br />awarded: <br />Gates Chevrolet Corp. , <br />333 W. Western Ave. <br />South Bend 11 Indiana <br />14 - Four Door Seda.ps (Biscayne,);. <br />1 - Station Wagon (Biscayne) <br />°= Net $239347.00 <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: POLICE DEPARTMENT ('1 CAR ) <br />At the request of Police Chief Hampton, permission was granted to <br />advertise for 1 four door sedan. A'Harley Davidson 72 two wheel motor- <br />cycle including radio, siren, red `fights and all other police equipment <br />will be offered in trade. <br />Advertisements will be placed in The South Bend Tribune and The Tri-County <br />News on April 10, and April 17, 1964. Sealed bids will be opened on <br />A pr i 1 20, 1964. <br />APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />An application for the Police Department from John Vernon VanKirk was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION .(ADVERTISE FOR DEMOLITION <br />With reference to property owned by Mr. J. Lynch, located at 1712 N. <br />Eclipse Place, a 45 day continuance allowed t'o give owner opportunity <br />to demolish the structure has expired. Demolition has not been <br />accomplished. <br />The Sub -Standard Division requests permission to place advertisements <br />for bids for demolition of property. Request approved and property <br />ordered demolished. <br />APPROVAL: BARRICADE ALLEY ( BUILDING DEPARTMEMT ) <br />The Building Department requests permission for Roseland Construction <br />Company, Inc. to barricade an alley in the rear of 127-129 S. Michigan <br />Street because of construction work for F. W. Woolworth Company. <br />:Permission granted for barricade from April,7, 1964 to May 19 1964. <br />The contractor will occupy approximately 50 feet of the alley. <br />The secretary of the Board was directed to notify the Fire and Police <br />and Street Departments of said barricade. <br />APPROVAL: ERECTION OF CIVIL WAR MEMORIAL ( NO. 6 FIRE STATION ) <br />Permission was granted the Indiana Civil War Centennial Commission to <br />erect a Markdr as a memorial for Camp Rose, a Civil War Training Camp <br />which was located on the site presently occupied by No. 6 Fire Station <br />on Portage and Leland Avenues. <br />
