313 April 69 1964 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April 6, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular 'meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. AWARDING BID: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( 15 CARS ) After due examination, it appearing that the followingis the lowest and best bid for 15 automobiles for the Police Department, said bid is now awarded: Gates Chevrolet Corp. , 333 W. Western Ave. South Bend 11 Indiana 14 - Four Door Seda.ps (Biscayne,);. 1 - Station Wagon (Biscayne) °= Net $239347.00 PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: POLICE DEPARTMENT ('1 CAR ) At the request of Police Chief Hampton, permission was granted to advertise for 1 four door sedan. A'Harley Davidson 72 two wheel motor- cycle including radio, siren, red `fights and all other police equipment will be offered in trade. Advertisements will be placed in The South Bend Tribune and The Tri-County News on April 10, and April 17, 1964. Sealed bids will be opened on A pr i 1 20, 1964. APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT An application for the Police Department from John Vernon VanKirk was accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION .(ADVERTISE FOR DEMOLITION With reference to property owned by Mr. J. Lynch, located at 1712 N. Eclipse Place, a 45 day continuance allowed t'o give owner opportunity to demolish the structure has expired. Demolition has not been accomplished. The Sub -Standard Division requests permission to place advertisements for bids for demolition of property. Request approved and property ordered demolished. APPROVAL: BARRICADE ALLEY ( BUILDING DEPARTMEMT ) The Building Department requests permission for Roseland Construction Company, Inc. to barricade an alley in the rear of 127-129 S. Michigan Street because of construction work for F. W. Woolworth Company. :Permission granted for barricade from April,7, 1964 to May 19 1964. The contractor will occupy approximately 50 feet of the alley. The secretary of the Board was directed to notify the Fire and Police and Street Departments of said barricade. APPROVAL: ERECTION OF CIVIL WAR MEMORIAL ( NO. 6 FIRE STATION ) Permission was granted the Indiana Civil War Centennial Commission to erect a Markdr as a memorial for Camp Rose, a Civil War Training Camp which was located on the site presently occupied by No. 6 Fire Station on Portage and Leland Avenues.
