Daren
Assistant Director
The attached Resolution when approved gives Common Council con-
currence for a rehabilitation contract in excess of $5,000.00
between the Redevelopment Commission and the stated contractor.
The five contracts presented in this resolution will all be paid
for by means of a Section 312 Rehabilitation Loan. A Section 312
Rehabilitation Loan provides 3% interest money to homeowners who
are in need of substantial home repairs. The homeowners must be
able to afford to pay back the loan, as well as have a yearly
income which falls beneath the income maximums set for the
program.
In previous years homeowners receiving 312 loans solicited their
own contractors to perform the rehabilitation on their home. As
this system is very time consuming and does not afford the Bureau
the security of a formal contract, the Bureau has begun to
competitively bid the Section 312 Loan.
Should you have any questions concerning the above, I will be
pleased to answer them.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Baumgartner
Director
Bureau of Housing
KB:ef
att.
BUREAU OF HOUSING 0 521 Eclipse Place 0 South Bend, Indiana 46628 0 219/284 -9475
