OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK <br />KAREEMAH FOWLER, CITY CLERK <br />PUBLIC WORKS & PROPERTY VACATION NOVEMBER 14, 2016 3:40 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Other Council Present: <br />Others Present: <br />Agenda: <br />Jo Broden, John Voorde, Gavin Ferlic, Randy Kelly <br />Oliver Davis, Dr. David Varner, Regina Williams - <br />Preston, Tim Scott <br />Kareemah Fowler, Joseph Molnar, Michael <br />Passavoir, Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand <br />Bill No. 60 -16 — Alley Vacation at Portage & Bulla <br />Bill No. 16 -87 — Support for the South Shore Line <br />Proposed Upgrades and Improvements <br />Committee Chair Jo Broden called the meeting to order with two (2) items on the agenda. <br />Bill No. 60 -16 — Alley Vacation at Portage & Bulla <br />Committeemember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to continue Bill No. 60 -16 until November 28, <br />2016 and Committeemember John Voorde seconded, which carried by a voice vote of three (3) <br />ayes. <br />Committeemember Randy Kelly entered the meeting at 3:42 p.m. <br />Bill No. 16 -87 — Support for the South Shore Line Proposed Upgrades and Improvements <br />Committee Chair Jo Broden stated that there have been a number of projects identified within the <br />Regional Cities plan but a longstanding one has been to improve the speed and reliability of the <br />South Shore Line. All of the items that were proposed in the Regional Cities are all targeted at <br />getting workers from South Bend, to -and -from Chicago, in a very reliable fashion, and also <br />offering the amenities of Northern Indiana public schools, public spaces, available housing, <br />inexpensive housing, and quality housing to those available to individuals who reside in <br />Chicago. It is one (1) of many place - making initiatives that was set out, again, as a primary piece <br />in the Regional Cities plan. She stated, I am following in suit and hope that you would be in <br />support, fellow Councilmembers, in similar fashion to the City of La Porte, who passed a <br />455 County-City Building • 227 W.
