October 21, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />October 21, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and <br />approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />RETIRE_MENT POLICE DEPARTMENT_(LT. E. J. NOWAK <br />Lt. Edward J. Nowak of the Police Department requested the Board <br />to approve his service pension after twenty-two years and almost <br />ten months on the Police Force, to be effective November 1, 1963. <br />Lt. Nowak advised the'Board that he will end his vacation on October <br />17, 1963 and from then through October 31, 1963 will be on customary <br />two weeks terminal leave. <br />Request granted as requested. <br />ATTEND SAFETY COUNCIL LE. R. W. MILLER) <br />The Board granted permission to Sgt. Robert W. Miller, Traffic <br />Division of the Police Department to attend the National Safety <br />Council Congress in Chicago, Illinois from October 27, 1963 through <br />October 31, 1963. <br />Sgt. Miller has been appointed to the seven man subcommittee Advisory <br />Board to the National Safety Council on Uniform City Traffic Accident <br />Record and Statistics andas such a member will appear on several <br />panels on this subject during the Safety Congress. <br />ATTEND MEETING S K-9 POLICE OFFICERS-) <br />Permission was granted fo the following Police Officers to attend a <br />state' -meeting of K-9 Officers to be held in Muncie, Indiana on <br />October 22. 1963; <br />T-� <br />Officers"Switalski, Szuba, Lederer and Szwede. <br />Permission also granted to take along the K-9 cars to show these <br />attending the meeting how our cars are equipped. <br />The officers will leave at 5:00 A.M. on the 22nd and will have <br />21st and 22nd of October off. <br />PETITIONS. STREET LIGHT REQUESTS <br />The following Petitions requesting street light installations were <br />referred to Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department Superintendent <br />for investigation and recommendation: <br />1. 300 Block of N. Francis Street between LaSalle and Madison Streets <br />2. Walnut Street back of Thomas Street - light in alley. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE <br />Stephen Molnar, representing the Health Department was in attendance <br />at the meeting. <br />APPLICATION: SPECIAL POLICE LKESTER <br />Application for renewal of Special Police Commission and Bond for Mr. <br />A.
