September 9, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />September 9, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Meesrs. Andrysiak and Smith were <br />present. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the special meetings <br />were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to <br />the various suppliers. <br />RE: IN THE MATTER OF FLOYD CHRAPLIWY - HEARING ON CHARGES OF VIOLATION <br />OF RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT V T <br />The hearing scheduled for this date in the matter of Floyd Chrapliwy <br />is re -set for 2:30 P.M. Friday, September 13, 1963 in the office of the <br />Board of Public Works & Safety. <br />This postponement is occasioned by the fact that Mr. Farage, Mr. Chrapliwy's <br />attorney, advised the Board that he would be unable to attend this hear. <br />ing. <br />In a letter addressed to Officer Chrapliwy,_it.was pointed out by <br />the Chairman of the Board of Public Safety that the Board shall act <br />at the forthcoming hearing whether Mr. Chrapliwy is present or not. <br />No further continuances will be given. <br />Mr. Daniel Morgan, attorney for Mr. Chrapliwy, appeared and was advised <br />of the hearing scheduled for September 13, 1963. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT SUB -STANDARD_ DIVISION- HE_ARIN_GS <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the <br />Building Department and advised the Board that Mr. Wallace Mitchell, <br />owner of property located at 736 N. Francis Street had failed to appear <br />as ordered. <br />The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to order this sub -standard structure <br />condemned. <br />REPORT: _TRAFFIC CONTROL - TRAFFIC ENGINEER_ MARINE _& VICTO_RIA STREETS <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, upon the direction of the Board, con <br />ducted an investigation with reference to traffic control at Marine and <br />Victoria Streets. <br />These studies indicate that'control is necessary and stop skgns have been <br />ordered installed on Victoria and Marine Streets. <br />Following this investigation, the recommendation is approved. <br />RETIREMENT: _POLICE DEPARTMENT ( LOUIS HORVHH) <br />In accordance with a request from Officer Louis Horvath and upon the <br />recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the Board approved the retirement <br />of Officer Horvath, following 21 years service with the Department. <br />The retirement will become effective October 1, 1963. <br />PROMOTIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT LT. HANS AND CPL. VELLNER) <br />Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the following <br />promotions were approved: <br />Lt. Neal L.
