September 9, 1963 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, September 9, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Meesrs. Andrysiak and Smith were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the special meetings were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. RE: IN THE MATTER OF FLOYD CHRAPLIWY - HEARING ON CHARGES OF VIOLATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT V T The hearing scheduled for this date in the matter of Floyd Chrapliwy is re -set for 2:30 P.M. Friday, September 13, 1963 in the office of the Board of Public Works & Safety. This postponement is occasioned by the fact that Mr. Farage, Mr. Chrapliwy's attorney, advised the Board that he would be unable to attend this hear. ing. In a letter addressed to Officer Chrapliwy,_it.was pointed out by the Chairman of the Board of Public Safety that the Board shall act at the forthcoming hearing whether Mr. Chrapliwy is present or not. No further continuances will be given. Mr. Daniel Morgan, attorney for Mr. Chrapliwy, appeared and was advised of the hearing scheduled for September 13, 1963. BUILDING DEPARTMENT SUB -STANDARD_ DIVISION- HE_ARIN_GS Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department and advised the Board that Mr. Wallace Mitchell, owner of property located at 736 N. Francis Street had failed to appear as ordered. The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to order this sub -standard structure condemned. REPORT: _TRAFFIC CONTROL - TRAFFIC ENGINEER_ MARINE _& VICTO_RIA STREETS Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, upon the direction of the Board, con ducted an investigation with reference to traffic control at Marine and Victoria Streets. These studies indicate that'control is necessary and stop skgns have been ordered installed on Victoria and Marine Streets. Following this investigation, the recommendation is approved. RETIREMENT: _POLICE DEPARTMENT ( LOUIS HORVHH) In accordance with a request from Officer Louis Horvath and upon the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the Board approved the retirement of Officer Horvath, following 21 years service with the Department. The retirement will become effective October 1, 1963. PROMOTIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT LT. HANS AND CPL. VELLNER) Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the following promotions were approved: Lt. Neal L. Hans from Lieutenant to rank of Captain, effective September 16, 1963. Cpl.
