September 3, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, <br />September 3, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />REPORT OF _MAYOR BRUG_GNER'S COMMITTEE ON SOUTH BEND_ PARKING_ <br />A letter from Mayor Bruggner, addressed to the Board, and enclosing a <br />Report of his Committee on South Bend Parking was considered by the <br />Board. <br />After due consideration, it was the unanimous decision of the Board to <br />approve the recommendation of the Mayor's Committee and the recommendation <br />of the Mayor on the adoption of this report by the Board and that a <br />Resolution be submitted to the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend for consideration and adoption, approving the action of the <br />Board. <br />Mr. Louis Chapleau, attorney, appeared before the Board to oppose <br />the approval of such a Resolution concerning the acquisition of <br />two parcels of land. <br />After hearing Mr.,.IChOpleau, it was the unanimous decision of the <br />Board that the Resolution be approved and referred to the Common <br />Council for its acceptance or r@jection at the next regular meeting <br />on September 9, 1963. <br />EXECUfION_OF CONTRACT: ELECI'RIC CURRENT AGREEMENT TRAFFIC SIGNALS <br />,STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION) � <br />The Board approved an Agreement between the City of South Bend and <br />the Indiana State Highway Commission for the modernization and/or <br />installation of traffic signals on U.S. 20 and U.S. 31, Lincolnway <br />West and Michigan Street respectively. <br />This Agreement will be forwarded to the State Highway Commission for <br />execution by the Executive Director and return to the Office of the <br />Board. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT_- SUB-STANDARDDIVISION(HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Peter Gillis, Jr., with reference to property located at <br />931 E. Sorin Street and requests an extension of 60 days in order to <br />bring property up to standard. <br />Permission granted. <br />With reference to property located at 736 N. Francis Street, owned by <br />Mr. Mitchell, this hearing is continued for one week, or until <br />September 9, 1963. <br />BIDS FOR DEMOLITION(SUB-STANDARD DIVISION <br />Bids for demolition for the following addresses were examined by the <br />Board: <br />1910 Grant Street. <br />A & J.
