July 29, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />July 29, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />RE: SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE ERECTION OF BEAMS TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, with Mr. Holden, engineer <br />with Camonie Construction Company, contractor for hew,Sample Street <br />bridge and informs the Board that in order to erect the beams for <br />the bridge the U. S. Highway No. 33 will have to be closed, as a <br />safety precaution. <br />Mr. Hazinski further informed the Board that he had the approval of <br />the State Highway Department Officials to 'dlose U.S. No. 33 (Lincolnway <br />East) and detour traffic during the time of installation. <br />Mr. Holden informed the Board that the contractor has, agreed to <br />furnish flag men and will hire off -duty police officers to direct <br />traffic during this period. <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, the Board approved <br />the temporary closing of U.S. 33, or Lincolnway East and Mr. Hazinski <br />was requested to proceed with plans for this operation. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: STREET SIGN INSTALLATIONS <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installtions were approved: <br />No Parking This Side signs installed on south side of 1500 <br />block of Fisher Street. <br />2 Hour time limit signs to cover 231 E. Sample St. <br />Yield Signs on Dubail Street, both sides, at Warren Street. <br />Yield Signs on Dubail Street, both sides, at Phillipa Sheet. <br />Yield Signs on Pulaski Street, both sides, at Indiana Ave. <br />Stop Sims on Carlisle Street at Dubail Street. <br />Stop Signs on Magnolia Street, both sides, at Dubail. <br />Stop Signs on Magnolia Street, both sides, at Indiana Ave. <br />Stop -Signs on Swygart, both sides, at Indiana Ave. <br />Stop Signs on Webster, both sides, at Indiana Ave. <br />Stop Signs on Arnold, both sides, at Indiana Ave. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( DEM_OLITION BID <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of <br />the Building Department and advises the Board that a demolition <br />bid received for property located at 919 S. Marietta is very high. <br />Mr. Grabarz requested permission to re -advertise. <br />Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: MILITARY LEAVE OFFICER D. THOMPSON <br />Officer D. Thompson of the Police Department was granted permission <br />to take military leave from August 18, 1963 until September 21 1963. <br />He will be stationed with the Marine Corp. in California. <br />APPLICATIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT_ <br />Applications for the Police department from Norman George McKillip <br />and James Edward Hammer were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />
