January 7, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />January 7, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />HEARING: VIOLATION RULES AND REGULATIONS OF SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />LSTANLEY PIASECKI 7 <br />Mr. Stanley Piaseckig,membeT of the Fire Department assigned to the <br />Electrical Department, failing to appear for a hearing at 9:30 A.M. <br />January 7, 1963 to answer to a charge filed by the Board of Public Works <br />& Safety for violation of the Rules and Regulations of the South Bend <br />Fire Department, Article XIV, Section 15-a; and further, it appearing <br />that notice of said hearing and copy of the Charge was served at Mr. <br />Piasecki's residence, the Board having examined said Charge and also <br />there being submitted a prior violation of Rules and Regulations of <br />the Fire Department, Article XIV, Section 15-a, and said Mr. Piasecki <br />p <br />having admitted to said violation, the Board finds that said Stanley, <br />Piasecki is guilty and that,his services are terminated forthwith as <br />:3 <br />a member of the South Bend Fire Department, assigned to the Electrical <br />Department. <br />PETITIONS: BEVERLY.PLACE - ONE WAY STREET AND CORNER HOUSE PARKING ) <br />The following Petitions were submitted to the Board, examined and ordered <br />referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigetion and report: <br />1. Petition of residents on N. Beverly Place for establishment of a <br />one-way street on Beverly north from Oakwood Boulevard to Lathrop <br />Street for safety reasons. <br />2. Petition of patrons and proprietor of Corner House Restaurant <br />for parking facilities. <br />ADVERTISE: TRAFFIC ENGINEER HEAT LAMP VACUUM SIGN APPLICATOR <br />Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, and requests permission to <br />have advertisements placed for bids on one Heat Lamp Vacuum Sign <br />Applicator. <br />Permission granted. Advertisements will be inserted on January 11, <br />January 18, 1963. Bids will be opened on January 21, at 10:00 A.M. <br />TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the <br />following installations were approved: <br />Stop signs installed on Medora Street, both sides, at Kinyon Street. <br />12 Minute Parking limit sign installed on 1st meter west of the alley <br />on south side of 100 block West Monroe Street. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ATTEND MEETINGGELWYN FIENHOLD ) <br />Comes now Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner, and requests permission <br />to send Elwyn Fienhold, Chief Plumbing Inspector, to a one day meeting <br />of the American Society of Sanitary Engineers at Indianapolis, Indiana <br />on January 11, 1963. <br />Permission granted. <br />APPROVAL: ASSOCIATES INVESTMENT COMPANY TUNNEL ( BUILDING DEPARTMENT } <br />Comes now Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner, aid informs the Board <br />that the Associates Investment Company had requested permission to <br />construct a tunnel across Ruskin greet at the site of their new <br />building project. -- <br />
