Mr. Strohl advised the Board that the Railroad had arranged to eliminate watchmen now on duty Monday through Friday at Lndiana, Calvert and Ewing crossings and use trainmen to provide the same protection as now in force. Mr. Strohl advised the Board that he had discussed this matter with Mr. Clam Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, and it was Mr. Hazinski's opinion that the proposed change would in no way adversely affect safety of traffic over these crossings. Mr. Hazinski also suggested that the Board be informed as to the railroad's intention. The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT_( THOMAS J. JOZWIAK ) Tihiremen's Pension Fund Boards having examined the application of Thomas J. Jolwiak, and said application having been found qualified to perform all duties necessary as a member of the Fire Department, recommends to the Board that his application be considered favorably. The Board, therefore, following the recommendation of the Pension Fund Board ajW the Fire Chief, hereby does appoint Thomas J. Jozwiak as a member of the Fire Department, effective December 1, 1962. BUILDING DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT LOUIS SMOGOR) It is the decision of the Board to appoint Mr. Louis"Smogor as Building Commissioner effective November 24, 1962. The appointment was made effective as of this date in order to allow Mr. Smogom to attend a meeting of Building Officials in Providence , Rhode Island from November 29, 1962 to December 1, 1962. BUILDING LDING DEPARTMENT_( CONFERENCE ) The Board approved the attendance at a meeting of Building Officials in Providence, Rhode Island from November 29 to December 1, 1962 of the following personnel in the Building Department: building Commissioner Louis Smogor, Ted Lewandowski and John Grabarz. SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS) With reference to property located at 513-15 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, owned by Miss Pearl Daar, since Miss Daar failed to appear to show cause why property has not been brought up to standard, the Board authorized Mr. John Grabarz--to advertise for bids for demolition. With reference :to property located at 311 E. Paris Street, owned by Mr. Sidney Kass,=.,Coral..Gables, Florida, the Board directed Mr. John Grabarz to proceed with demolis6ent. AWARDING BIDS - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (DEMOLITION ) Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building De;partment, and -informs the Board the results of advertisements forbids for demolition of the following: 616-61 1 N. Hill St,. A & J. Demolition Co. $275.00 with salvage $350 without salvage Towne Excavating & Wrecking Co. $350.00 with salvage $400 without salvage 830 Rush Street. A & J Demolition Co. $350.00 with salvage $425 without salvage Towne Excavating & Wrecking Co. $400.00 with salvage $400 without salvage , Both bids are awarded to A & J Demolition Co., with salvage.
