Mr. Strohl advised the Board that the Railroad had arranged to eliminate <br />watchmen now on duty Monday through Friday at Lndiana, Calvert and Ewing <br />crossings and use trainmen to provide the same protection as now in <br />force. <br />Mr. Strohl advised the Board that he had discussed this matter with Mr. <br />Clam Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, and it was Mr. Hazinski's opinion that <br />the proposed change would in no way adversely affect safety of traffic <br />over these crossings. Mr. Hazinski also suggested that the Board be <br />informed as to the railroad's intention. <br />The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT_( THOMAS J. JOZWIAK ) <br />Tihiremen's Pension Fund Boards having examined the application of <br />Thomas J. Jolwiak, and said application having been found qualified <br />to perform all duties necessary as a member of the Fire Department, <br />recommends to the Board that his application be considered favorably. <br />The Board, therefore, following the recommendation of the Pension Fund <br />Board ajW the Fire Chief, hereby does appoint Thomas J. Jozwiak as <br />a member of the Fire Department, effective December 1, 1962. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT LOUIS SMOGOR) <br />It is the decision of the Board to appoint Mr. Louis"Smogor as Building <br />Commissioner effective November 24, 1962. The appointment was made effective <br />as of this date in order to allow Mr. Smogom to attend a meeting of <br />Building Officials in Providence , Rhode Island from November 29, 1962 <br />to December 1, 1962. <br />BUILDING LDING DEPARTMENT_( CONFERENCE ) <br />The Board approved the attendance at a meeting of Building Officials in <br />Providence, Rhode Island from November 29 to December 1, 1962 of the <br />following personnel in the Building Department: building Commissioner <br />Louis Smogor, Ted Lewandowski and John Grabarz. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS) <br />With reference to property located at 513-15 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, owned <br />by Miss Pearl Daar, since Miss Daar failed to appear to show cause why <br />property has not been brought up to standard, the Board authorized Mr. <br />John Grabarz--to advertise for bids for demolition. <br />With reference :to property located at 311 E. Paris Street, owned by <br />Mr. Sidney Kass,=.,Coral..Gables, Florida, the Board directed Mr. John Grabarz <br />to proceed with demolis6ent. <br />AWARDING BIDS - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />(DEMOLITION ) <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the <br />Sub -Standard <br />Division of the <br />Building <br />De;partment, and -informs the Board the <br />results of advertisements forbids <br />for demolition of the following: <br />616-61 1 N.
