November 19, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />November 19, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers.. <br />APPOINTMENT: BUILDING COMMISSIONER ( LOUIS SMMOOGOR } <br />The Board announced that Mr._ Louis Smogor had been approved as Building <br />Commissioner and would be appointed, effective December 1, 1962. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now John Grabarz and advises the Board that Joseph Booney, <br />owner of property located at 2127 Merry Avenue had beeh-sequestedl:to <br />appear to show cause why repairs had not been made. <br />Mr. Booney requested a continuance in order to complate work. 11he <br />Board continued the case until March 25, 1963 at which time the <br />work must be completed or the property will be ordered demolished. <br />Mr. Booney advised the Board that this continuance was satisfactory <br />and the time allotted sufficient. <br />With reference to property located at 126 N. St, Louis Blvd., owned by <br />one Jennie Cohen, widow of adult age, this property is being taken tare <br />of by Mr. William Morris. <br />It was the decision of the Board that a continuance be granted until <br />February 25, 1963 at which time all work°.except outside painting shall <br />be completed. <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: BIKE,AUCTION <br />Permission was granted to the Clerk of the Board to place advertisements <br />advising of date of auction of abandoned bicycles now being held in <br />the Police Department. Augtion:shall be held at 2:00 P.M. on November <br />289 1962 in City Hall Court. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OOMMISSION LG.E`�METZ ) <br />A Special Police Commission for George Edward Metz to act as Special <br />Police Officer for Merchant Security was approved by the Board and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS ) <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the <br />following installationsof traffic signs were approved: <br />No Par,A g 3 P.M. to- 6_P,?A. atyam S. Main St. <br />Yield signs installed on Viking Street, both sides, at Eastmont <br />Yield sign on South Lea,,southwest corner, at Eastmont <br />Yield sign on Sampson, northwest corner, at Sampson St. Stop sign <br />on southeast corner. <br />3 - 2 hr. time limit signs at 802 S. Main St. <br />No Parking Passenger Loading zones established at entrances to Muessel <br />School on California Ave., Blaine and Cleveland Avenues. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE ( OFFICE ENGINEERS 3 BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br />A Certificate of Insurance, indemnifying the City of South Bend, with <br />reference to property commonly known as 120 S. Michigan Street for <br />construction of an access panel was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />
