August 20, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 20, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION HEARINGS <br />With reference to the demolition of a structure located at 1838 N. <br />Elmer Street, the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department <br />reported that the only bid received as the result of advertising for <br />such demolition was one from A & J. Demolition, Inc., for the sum of <br />$250.009 with salvaga. <br />The Board approved the letting of such bid for $250.00 to A & J. <br />Demolition, Inc. <br />A hearing on property located at 213 E. Paris Street was continued <br />until September 24, 1962 at the recommendation of the Sub -Standard <br />Division of the Building Department. <br />A hearing on property located at 660 Laporte Avenue was scheduled for <br />this date. Permission was granted to the Sub -Standard Division <br />representative to advertise for bids for demolition of structure <br />at this address, with the stipulation that the owner be notified. <br />A hearing on property located at 1312 W. Jefferson Boulevard was <br />held and permission granted to advertise for bids for demolition of <br />structure on this property, with the stipulation that the owner be <br />notified. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE ( MU IA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. <br />A Certificate of Insurance from Muia Construction Company, Inc. <br />indemnifying the City of South Bend against injury and property <br />ddmage was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on file. <br />REPORT: TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRUCK TRAFFIC ON FALCON STREET) <br />A Report from the Traffic Engineer on truck traffic on Falcon Street <br />as the result of a Petition from residents of the area requesting <br />speed limit signs and prohibition of trucks on Falcon Street betweem <br />Western Avenue and Washington Avenue was submitted to the Board. <br />As a result of investigation, the Traffic Engineer recommended that <br />"Thru Trucks Prohibited" signs and 30 mile per hour signs be installed <br />on Falcon Street between Western Avenue and Washington Avenue. <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the above <br />suggested signs and regulations concerning such truck traffic was <br />approved by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS APPROVED) <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />signs were ordered installed: <br />S%P s. s installed on Walsh Street, both sides, at Miner St. <br />1"Hr. time limit signs installed in front of 2109 S. Michigan <br />3 - "No Parking 6 A.M. & 3 P.M. Mon. Thru Fri." on northside <br />of 600 E. Colfax Avenue <br />2 - 2 Hr. time limit sign in front of 1921 S. Miami & on Bowman <br />Street along side of 1921 S. Miami St. <br />4 - No Pariing This Side signs on north side of 1100 block of E. <br />Chalfant from -Arthur --Street to Eddy Street. <br />
