5' 3 - <br />June 18, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />June 18, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were - <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />At the meeting of the Board of Public Safety comes now Officer Edmund <br />Hageniers vih o is charged with violation of the Rules and Regulations <br />of the South Bend Police Department, on June 15, 1962. <br />Officer Edmund Hageniers accepted delivery of the charge in hand personally. <br />Said officer waives letter notice and agrees to hearing being held on <br />this date. <br />Officer Hageniers admits that he violated Rules and Regulations of the <br />Police Department by his failure to make two checks to the Sergeant <br />at the desk of the South Bend Police Department and that in failing to <br />make said checks he violated Rules 5, 6 and 19. <br />After hearing the charges, it was the decision of the Board that Officer <br />Hageniers be suspended from June 16, 1962 to June 30, 1962. Based on <br />the Chief's recommendation, Officer Hageniers will work during this <br />period without pay. <br />REFERRAL: LETTER FROM TRANSAMERICAN FREIGHT LINES. INC. - TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />A letter from Nr. H. H. Erdman-, Vice President of Operations of Transamerican <br />Freight Lines, Inc. addressed to Mr. Ray Andrysiak was submitted to the <br />Board. <br />The letter, with reference to truck traffic to Transamerican property in <br />South Bend was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and <br />report. <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ( FIRE DEPARTMENT - PAINT FIRE STATIONS ) <br />Permission was granted to the fire Chief to have advertisements placed <br />in The South Bend Tribune and The Record for bids on painting of the <br />trim and canopy of Fire Stations Nos. 6, 7 and 8 and Central Station. <br />Bids will be opened on July 2, 1962. Advertisements will appear on <br />June 22 and June 29, 1962. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (TRAFFIC SIGNS ) <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the <br />following installations were approved: <br />2 - 2 Hour Signs to cover 737 N. Lawndale Ave. <br />2 - 2 Hour Signs to cover 706 E. Jefferson Blvd. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Lyndon E. Scheid, 1456 Lincolnway East, owner of property <br />located at 213 E. Paris Street to show cause why repair orders had not <br />been complied with. <br />Mr. Scheid informed the Board that he had sold the property under Land <br />Contract and was under •the impression the buyer was making the necessary <br />repairs. <br />At his request, and at the request of John Grabarz, Director of Sub -Standard <br />Division, this case was Continued until August 20, 1962. <br />With reference to property owned by John and Pearl Harris, located at 1615 <br />S. William Street, John Grabarz was directed to proceed with demolition <br />of said property and to notify owners by letter os said intention. <br />
