March 19, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, March <br />19, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and <br />ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />AWARDING OF BID CENTRAL FIRE STATION ROOF) <br />The bid of LaRite Roofing Company being the lowest and best bid, said <br />bid is now awarded to the LaRite Roofing Company for the construction of <br />a new roof for the Central Fire Station. <br />This bid was examined by the Building Department and was found sufficient. <br />The Building Department also investigated the LaRite Roofing Company to <br />ascertain whether this Company's qualifications were such so that the <br />Company is qualified to do this work. It is the opinion of the Building <br />Department that the LaRite Roofing Company is qualified for such installation. <br />The bid is as follows: <br />LaRite Roofing Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Quotation for roofing work in connection with the Central Fire <br />Station Building, South Bend, Indiana as outlined in proposal $2,176.00 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENTS <br />The following appointments were made to the Police Department, following the <br />recommendation of the Police Chief and the Police Pension Fund: <br />Richard E. Scott, 1024 Talbor St., South Bend, Indiana <br />Fred Medich, 206 E. Oakside St., South Bend, Indiana <br />Dan D. Thompson, 514 W. Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />Thomas C. Kazmierczak, 602 S. Jackson Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />James R. Verhagen, 615 S. Liberty Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />The appointment of Thomas C. Kazmierczak, James R. Verhagen and Dan D. <br />Thompson are accepted on condition that they have minor dental work <br />completed within 21 days after appointment. <br />The appointments are effective March 19, 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT —(-APPLICATION) <br />An application from Thomas Joseph Makowski for the Police Department was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br />A Report for the month of February from the Police Department was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT <br />The Annual Report for the Year of 1961 from the Police Department was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />- -- --- -- -- -= %L L y%.' LivvllvLct[ - Z-)UxVt:Y Ut RAILROAD CROSSINGS <br />As directed by the Board on March 12, 1962 (Record Book 21, Pg. 206) Traffic <br />Engineer was directed to make survey of all railroad crossings in City and request <br />repairs of railroad crossings. Traffic Engineer submitted copies of letters to <br />all railroads to make immediate repairs. Letters were reviewed by Board and <br />Traffic Engineer directed to follow through to ascertain immediate action. <br />
