RESOLUTIOP N0. (49 -9/ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUB - <br />MIT AN APPLICATION FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATUION, U.S. DEPART- <br />MENT OF COMMERCE, UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1980. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor <br />and the,Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought to improve <br />South Bend's economy by initiating and supporting economic development projects <br />which increase the City's tax base, job opportunities, and local incomes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor <br />and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out federal assist- <br />ance to support local efforts and to supplement local resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration has provided substantial <br />support to local economic development and public works projects; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend wishes to undertake a major economic <br />development effort in reindustrializing the Studebaker Corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, and is <br />the applicant for a Technical Assistance Grant from the Economic Development <br />Administration. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana: <br />SECTION I. Hereby establishes the authority of the Mayor to submit <br />an application for funds in the amount of Seventy -five Thousand Dollars <br />($75,000.00) to Economic Development Administration for technical assistance <br />funds. <br />SECTION II. Hereby designates the Department of Redevelopment as the <br />Administrative Agent for the program. <br />SECTION III.
